Culinary Schools: Idaho

A cynic once said that Idaho culinary schools are dedicated to discovering new ways of cooking potatoes. That is very far from the truth! Idaho is known for its fine potato crops, in fact, the potato is the state vegetable, but the cuisine is as varied and sophisticated as that in any of its neighbor states.

Students at Idaho culinary schools can look forward to life in a state that is famous as an outdoor playground. Hiking and camping are popular with tourists and locals and the countryside ranges from mild to rugged. The state of Idaho also has rivers that are a white water rafter's dream come true. In the winter, a good deal of the population is busy skiing and snowmobiling. The state offers excellent opportunities for both.

If items of cultural interest are more your style, Idaho has them in abundance. For example, Boise, the state capital, has the largest concentration of Basques in the United States. The Basque museum and cultural center is worth repeated visits. Human rights and humanitarian causes are important topics in Idaho. The state has a prominent Black History Museum, the Anne Frank Human Rights Memorial, and the World Sports Humanitarian Hall of Fame.
